Common questions

How do I add a link?

Choose Scan QR, Scan photo, or Add link on the main screen. When entering a link, you can type a domain such as example.com; the app adds https:// when needed. You can also share a web link to QR: ScanStash from Safari's share sheet.

Why does the camera not open?

Check the app's camera permission in iOS Settings. Manual link entry and photo scanning remain available if camera access is disabled.

Why does photo scanning not ask for full gallery access?

The app uses Apple's photo picker to receive only the image you select. QR recognition runs on the device. If several QR codes are found, you choose which result to use. If the image is in iCloud, it may need to download before it can be read.

How do saved cards differ from recent scans?

Saved cards remain until you delete them. When scan history is enabled, Recent scans keeps the 20 most recent distinct QR contents. Disabling future history does not erase existing entries. Saved cards and scan history can be deleted separately.

Where are my links and previews stored?

The app keeps them locally. It has no user accounts or developer-operated cloud sync. Opening a website requires the destination site to be available. A stored page preview is an image rather than an offline copy of the site.

How do I use the Home Screen widget?

Open a saved card's options and choose the widget help action. Add the QR: ScanStash widget from iOS's widget gallery, then edit the widget to choose its card. After that card is deleted, choose another saved card for the widget.

Can support recover a lost library?

We do not have a remote copy of your library. The app has no built-in library backup or library restore feature. Restoring Pro does not recover lost cards. Apple's device backups follow your device settings; deleting the app can remove its local data.

What is free, and what does Pro unlock?

You can keep up to 10 saved cards for free. QR and photo scanning are unlimited; Recent scans still keeps the last 20 distinct contents. Search, previews, copy/share and the existing widget remain free. ScanStash Pro is an optional one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited saved cards, with no subscription. The Pro screen shows Apple’s localized price before purchase.

What happens at the free limit?

You can still open, edit, copy, share or delete existing cards, and saving an already saved link does not use a new slot. To add a new card, delete a card to free space or unlock Pro. A new link received from Safari waits locally until the app can finish saving it; open the app to see the notice.

How do I restore Pro?

Use the Apple Account that made the purchase, then open the Free / Pro button at the top of the home screen → Restore purchases. Apple may ask you to sign in. Restoring the purchase restores unlimited saved cards, not the contents of a lost local library. A pending purchase does not unlock Pro until Apple confirms it.

Where do I request a refund?

Apple handles App Store purchase refunds. Follow Apple’s refund instructions. If Apple refunds or revokes Pro, existing cards stay available; the free limit applies to new cards.
